| Bais canvass resumes as lawyers walkoutBAIS CITY July 4 2007 12:30 a.m. --- Opposition lawyers walked out from the canvassing room,at the resumpstion of the vote counting after the Comelec disregarded their manifestation reiterating their stand to suspend canvassing and declare failure of elections. Eduardo Concepcion lawyer for opposition mayoralty bet Boy Villanueva left the canvassing which proceeded unhampered until past midnight and was expected to wind up by early morning of Wednesday July 4 early today. Comelec Bais chair Atty Reynaldo Tuale said that as of last report at 11pm last night, reelctionist Mayor Hector Villanueva was leading by over 3000 votes with 10,000 plus votes as against the 7000 plus votes of boy Villanueva. In the morning , Tata Villanueva said that he was expecting to win even as Boy Villanueva was still hoping to catch up. Meanwhile, the Bais elections continues to be contested now in the regional trial court. While the first congressional case on the disqualification issue of Rep. Josy Limkaching continues before the House Electoral Tribunal. According to the Namfrel and in-house count of Hector Villanueva, he got around 19,000 votes as against Boy Villanueva,actually his first cousin, who got over 14,000 votes, in the unofficial tally. The official figures will be known by noontime today. |
