Coast Guard sets
oil spill public lectures

Coastguard Station Dumaguete will hold an oil spill demonstration exercise this coming month of April.

According to Commander Robert Patrimonio, Commander of the Coastguard Station Dumaguete, he is now making an oil spill contingency plan as a preparation incase there might occur an oil spill in the oceans of Negros Oriental and Siquijor.

Patrimonio disclosed that he is hopeful that he can influence some concerned government agencies, with the help of the oil companies, to support the planned oil spill demonstration exercise.

However, Commander Patrimonio said that unlike other places, abuse of the ocean is not a problem in the province. He added that the public is conscious and concerned in preserving the oceans.
