Lady police given award

During yesterday afternoon’s regular session of the Dumaguete City Council, the plaque was awarded to the chosen 2008 Awardee in the Police Non-Commissioned Officer Category.

SPO2 Josefa Lacandula was given citation by the city council as the 2008 Awardee in the Police Non-Commissioned Category. The plaque was handed by Vice-Mayor Woodrow Maquiling, Presiding Officer of the city council.

The resolution to give honor and appreciation for the accomplishments of SPO2 Lacandula was authored by Councilor Alan Gel Cordova, Chairman of the Peace and Order Committee of the council.

Among SPO2 Lacandula’s accomplishments are the filing of sexual abuse charge against a French National who victimized boys who are under age and beneficiaries of the NGO Little Children of the Philippines-Dumaguete City. A warrant of arrest was issued by the court and then pushed to the international Police and French Embassy.

She also conducted investigation and surveillance to the cyber-sex operation which resulted to the arrest of the couple, Marina and Napoleon Dumapit, and the rescue of their house helpers aging 13 to 14 who are also victims. SPO2 Lacandula also conducted a buybust operation of pornographic lighters and others.
