NPAs collect revolutionary taxes again?

The communist rebels have once again started to collect revolutionary taxes from the farmers in Sitio Buang, Barangay Milagrosa, Sta. Catalina town. This was disclosed by Lt. Col. Erwin Bernard Neri, Commanding Officer of the 79th Infantry Masaligan Battalion.

According to col. Neri, the residents in the said area were collected with P15 pesos per family in a month. He said the poor civilians have nothing to do but submit to the demands of the rebels due to their fear.

After such incident, some of the civilians seek the help of the military and reported the presence of armed men in their place.

Meanwhile, members of the Komiteng Rehiyon Sentral Visayas will now find it hard to build their camp in the province after elements of the 79th IB overrun the camp of the NPA last Monday morning. According to 302nd Brigade Commander Col. Cesar Yano, the civilians have now cooperated to the elements of the Philippine Army. This is the reason why the NPA would no longer rest on one place, he said.
