Tulabing lauds conviction of ex-NPA Commander

The Catholic Church lauded the conviction of a former NPA Commander and his two companions who were charged with Robbery with Multiple Murder.

Convicted were Raul Villar aka Ka Drilon, Julito Amaro aka Ka Diolo and Jaime Amaro under the sala of Judge Marie Rose Inocando Paras of the Regional Trial Court 7, Branch 42 of robbing and killing 4 employees of the municipality of Sta. Catalina last May 8, 2002.

Jaime Amaro is still at large after he escaped from jail while his brother Julito is allegedly one of the fatalities during an encounter between the communist rebels and the government troop last February 2005 in Barangay Casalaan, Siaton town.

Ka Drlion who is a former NPA commander was captured and sentenced with life imprisonment.

According to Fr. Tulabing, Vicar General of the Diocese of Dumaguete who was interviewed over DYEM Energy FM Dumaguete Tonight said he is glad that justice has been finally served to the victims.

Second, according to him the Catholic Church stands firm on its ground against death penalty. Ka Drilon is given life imprisonment sentence after President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo eliminated death penalty.
