Concern Citizens Capture Alleged Thief
Jose “ Badjao” Torres was seen running on foot carrying a cellular phone which was stolen from an e-load station along the national highway last Monday, October 1, 2007 when citizens in the area saw him and chased after him when they suspected that he is fleeing away after doing an offense. The civilians chased, captured, tied the suspect with a leather belt and turned him over to the police.
Torres is 18 years old and a resident of Barangay Tinago, Dumaguete City.
The owner of the e-load station, Mary Jane Macahilos, positively identified the suspect as the culprit for she saw him standing near her stall just a little time before she noticed that her cellphone was already missing. Although the cellular phone is already an old model, it has Php 500 worth of load and the witnesses of the incident urge the victim to file a suit against the suspect to give him a lesson.
