Community to emergency hospitals
Dumaguete City July 4, 2007 12:45 a.m. --- Governor Emilio Macias II today said that the primary hospitals which will be built in each town, if the local mayors will agree, will be used as an emergency hospital.
However those folks who ask for medicine will be asked to render community work in exchange for medicine.
Some commented that this is involuntary servitude and might escalate into a human rights issue.
If the people want help then they too must render community work even after the patient’s confinement, just like replenishing blood donated by the red cross.
Macias, together with Dr. Dante Domingo, chief of hospital, and other community cross section, inaugurated the second floor fo the hospital administration building.
Gov. Macias is concerned about the health conditions of the people.
A poblacion primary hospital will be very helpful.
It will also have time to examine meritorious cases which can save a lot in bringing the same to the provincial hospital only to be told by laboratory results that the patient may sefl medicate at home in order to save money.[/size]
