BAIS CITY July 5 2007 1:00 p.m.---–Chairman of the board of canvassers Atty Juvenal Tuale last night proclaimed Hector Tata Villanueva as the reelected mayor of Bais City following a protracted canvassing process because of pre proclamaition protests which are now moot and academic.
Balik vice mayor Luciano Lucing Benlota was also proclaimed vice mayor while the daughter of mayor Tata Villanueva, Karen, was the no. one councilor.
Other councilor proclaimed were Miguel real, avel Macalandong, Krislyn Repollo, Reboy Lasmarias, thirdy bouffard, Arvin Cabio, Teddy Tam, Jed Goñi and Wington Chang.

Meanwhile, the Bais count in the senatorial level could shift the lead on Migs Zubiri who got a final vote of l3,378 while Koko Pimental got 5,210 in the official comelec count. With the minor lead of Pimentel, the Bais lead of Zubiri could tilt the balance in the national count.
The bais city certificates of canvass will be recorded today at the provincial capitol and brought to manila by Atty Edi Aba, OIC Comelec supervisor for the province.

IN A RELATED DEVELOPMENT

The camp of rival Boy Villanueva will proceed with its election contest before the regional trial court in the matter of questioning the composition of the board of election inspectors who are not public school teachers.
However Tuale, the election officer said that there is a jurisprudence that in the absence of the availability of public school teachers, those that can suffice are private school teachers, a civil service employee or even an ordinary voter who will volunteer.
Reelected mayor Tata Villanueva extended the hand or reconciliation to all political enemies and vowed to move forward without any personal rancors to his detractors even within the government.
But he said, he will pursue a case before the ombudsman on three city engineering employees who used government printing equipment to malign him in violation of the law.
On projects, he told Dumaguete Tonight Energy FM anchor Florence baesa that he will pursue the culture project of snails, install more street lights in bais city, and boost agri business projects in the hinterlands where he won by a landslide.
He also has reconciled with arc critic Gov. Macias. But his rival cousin Boy Villanueva allegedly refused to reconcile in that he said, it was enough that he extended the olive branch of peace to his political enemies.
Tata Villanueva also added that he does not need to secure assistance from the provincial government since bais city has as surplus of 60 to 80 million pesos last year.
