Mayors Expressed Grief over last year’s Buglasan

Jimalalud Mayor Reynaldo Tuanda expressed his grief over the change of the title and individuality of his town’s festival as Dauin Mayor Engr.
Rodrigo Alanano restated his frustrations of last year’s Buglasan Festival awarding.

Mayor Tuanda said he is devastated with the fact that they have to change the identity of their festival in order to be part of Negros Oriental’s Festival of Festivals, Buglasan.

He said the new title of their festival “Hambabalud”, from the previous accustomed Sinulog Festival, has a semblance of paganism which he believes that their church also did not like.

The change from Sinulog to Hambabalud resulted from Provincial Board Member Mariant Escaño Villegas’ insistence, said Tuanda.

On the other hand, Mayor Alanano of Dauin said he has an evidence that his town’s contingent won on last year’s street dancing tilt but the award was given to another group during the awarding which he believes to be manipulated by somebody.
