Cordova, confident that city council will
approve Auxilliary Police Unit
Dumaguete City Councilor Alan Cordova, the prime mover for the creation of an auxiliary police unit in the city, said that he is confident that the entire city council will declare their unanimous support for his proposed ordinance.
The auxiliary police unit is intended to help augment police work of the Dumaguete City PNP which is undermanned.
Dumaguete City PNP Chief of Police Col. Dionardo Carlos concurred with Cordova’s proposal and welcomes the idea of it.
“The auxiliary police will help a lot in improving police visibility,” said Col. Carlos.
However, both Cordova and Carlos said that the best form of police augmentation is a vigilant citizenry who will report and stand as witnesses for crimes which are committed in the locality and not just solely rely with the authorities.
