New SK Prexy to provide computers to all barangays
Newly-elected Sangguniang Kabataan President Athena Duran emphasized education as her primary focus.
In an interview at DYEM Energy FM’s Dumaguete Tonight, Duran said she aims to provide computers in the 30 barangays in the city. These computers will be used for educational purposes like researching and project making of the students.
Duran explained that there are barangays in the city which do not have internet cafes and if there are, it is too far from the student’s residences.
She aims to provide computers to the barangay halls in the city so that students will no longer need to walk far in order to do their school works. She added that it would be dangerous for the youth to stay late outside because of doing researches in the internet cafes away from their barangays.
When she was asked where to get funds for her project, she said it is not a problem since it is easy to ask for donations from non-government organizations.
