Brgy Kagawad nabbed for illegal gambling
Barangay Cadawinonan Kagawad Mercuria Alviola, along with her husband, was arrested in a raid conducted in their residence by the members of the 705th Provincial Mobile Group because of their involvement with the illegal numbers game called “suertres”.
Chief Inspector Julius Munez of the 705th Provincial Mobile Group identified the suspects as Agustin Alviola and Mercuria Alviola who is one of the barangay kagawads in the said place.
According to Inspectoe Munez, the raid was executed by virtue of the search warrant issued by Judge Antonio Estoconing of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities, Branch 1.
Confiscated during the operation were illegal gambling paraphernalia like suertres tips, tally sheets and gambling monies.
Charges are now being prepared for the couple while they are detained at the Dumaguete City Police Office Detention Cell.
