Major Brownouts in Duamguete;
power is rationed; pier still unstable

Two Major concerns are bugging the city of dumaguete today, first the major brownouts and the instability at the city waterfront.

The TRANSCO distributors of power to the two norecos explained over DYEM’ s Dumaguete tonight, that its 50mega volt transformer developed some leaks and is now being subject to as rush rehabilitation hoping it will be over by Friday march 28.
This was the assurance of TRANSCO acting manager Engr. Zosimo Sammy Briones who hails form Dauin. Briones called up DYEM FM to explain the recurrent brownouts.
Only TRANSCO’S emergency 30 mega volt transformer is being used to ration power in all the two noreco areas in oriental negros.
As to the cause of the leak, Briones of TRANSCO cannot pinpoint beyond saying that leakages are the usual weakness of Korean made machines and equipment.

ON THE PIER INSTABILITY, Mayor Perdices is asking the DOLE on the official status of the situtation before the city will impose its police power for the general welfare. In a press conference the city mayor wants the dept of labor to take over the pier labor situation for the sake of the general welfare. Two roro ships are now landing in Tampi because of loses in dumaguete. Prices of goods shipped by boat will surely increase anytime, if it hasn’t at all yet.
WE hope that the city will muster enough political will to protect the general welfare. It doesn’t even have to consult the DOLE on when it will execute police power because LGUs under the local govt code are now autonomous enough when it comes to protecting the general welfare. For must the city consult other people as to how it will protect the general welfare if only it has enough political will to do the same. …30-
