The parents who placed their children as front liners and human shields on Saturday’s picket are liable to the law said the legal counsels of the Prudential Customs Brokerage Service and the city government.
It can be recalled that in last Saturday’s bloody melee on imposing the Temporary Restraining Order to remove the illegally set up blockade at the port entrance and exit gates by the law enforcers, minor children of the striking former port workers used their children as their shield.
According to the two lawyers, the parents are accountable if ever the children were harmed during the dispersal.
During the program Dumaguete Tonight aired over DYEM Energy FM in its portion Legal Clinic, Republic Act 7610 was tackled stating that it is prohibited to use the children in any illegal act and requires the punishment Reclusion Perpetua or life imprisonment of the parents who do such act.
