Arnaiz against PPA closing
Second District Congressman Goerge Arnaiz does not agree with the idea of closing the Dumaguete city Port.
Last night in the program Dumaguete Tonight over DYEM Energy FM, even if he is in Manila, the congressman pointed out that the problem and the disruption would eventually worsen if the port will not operate.
The statement of the congressman is his answer to the Philippine Ports Authority’s plan of closing the port today.
In an interview with the PPA Manager Renato Tolinero, he expressed his disgust with the comment given by a media personality in one of the local radio stations in the city giving him the blame of the situation where Tolinero pointed out that he has done everything he can to settle things out but sad to note that he failed.
However, Tolinero disclosed that he has high respect to the members of the media whom he also thanked since they were able to help him contact the possible personalities who could help him solve the problem.
On the other hand, Congressman Arnaiz suggested that for the mean time, PPA should just take over in handling the operations at the port to which the PPA did not accept.
Arnaiz assured that he will talk with the PPA National Office and converse with PPA Manager Oscar Sevilla to cancel the proposed closing of the Dumaguete City Port.
