Agri employees in hot water
Two employees from the City Agriculture’s Office are recommended to be fired from the service while two others are recommended for suspension.
This was what DYEM Energy FM Dumaguete Tonight learned from Ruperto Tenorio Jr., City Hall Personnel head who also served as the head of the investigating body that was created by Dumaguete City Mayor Agustin Perdices.
Recommended to be removed from the service are David Chui and Melito Cataylo. The two were proven to have sold scraps of iron and tractors which were not used without even asking for approval.
Recommended for suspension are Alfredo delos Santos, head of the City Agriculture’s Office, and Vicente Almayda. Delos Santos is recommended for a six-month suspension while Almayda is recommended for a month’s suspension.
On the other hand, the accused Leopoldo Geconcillo was found out innocent of the charges raised against him.
The investigating body was consisted of Councilor Espiridion Catan, Councilor Nilo Sayson, Councilor Franklin Esmena, Councilor Alan Cordova, Engr Josephine Antonio, City Planning Officer and Atty Samsaudin Tahir, President of the Integrated Bar of the Philipines Negros Oriental Chapter.
It can be recalled that Vice-mayor Woodrow Maquiling, in his Privileged Speech in the city council, revealed that anomalies abound at the City Agriculture’s Office. Because of the vice-mayor’s expose, Mayor Agustin Perdices created the investigating body.
Tenorio disclosed that their report is already with the city mayor and it is already up to him whether he approves or junks the recommendations of the investigating body.
It is also possible that the city mayor would file administrative charges against the said employees who conducted anomalous activities in their office to the Ombudsman or to the Civil Service Commission.
Tenorio added that even the employees of the city hall who were recommended for certain punishments have the right to question the result of their investigation or to seek help from the legal courts.
