POC to furnish bases for handheld radios
The City Peace and Order Council will furnish all the necessary equipment for the 11 barangays in the city in order for them to effectively use the issued hand held radios in line with the campaign against crime said Fernando Martinez, head of the Peace and Order Council, after meeting with the barangay captains of the 11 barangays which were given hand held radios.
Last Saturday, Martinez met with the barangay chiefs to talk about the failure of some of the recipient barangays from responding whenever Dumaguete City Chief of Police Sr/Supt Leopoldo Cabanag contacts them thru the hand held radios. However, not everybody was present during the meeting.
According to Martinez, next month, they will furnish a base with an antenna to the residences of the barangay chiefs for them to promptly respond whenever there are alarms. During the meeting, they also discussed the possibility of putting up an aerial antenna to the upper barangays in order to attain clearer signal.
Martinez clarified that the City POC will find funds for the putting up of bases and antennas. Councilor Chiquitting Sagarbarria on the other hand will take care for the fund needed for the aerial antennas said Martinez. He also disclosed that they are optimistic that the crimes in the city will diminish since it would then be fast to coordinate and report alarms to the police.
