ALU-TUCP, PCBSI deceive the public;
cases still going on
The public was deceived after ALU-TUCP and Prudential Customs Brokerage Services Incorporated disclosed that they have already withdrawn all legal charges filed against each other.
Earlier, ALU-TUCP and PCBSI revealed in front of the media that they have already withdrawn all legal charges against each other by virtue of the Memorandum of Agreement signed between the two parties along with the Philippine Ports Authority to permanently settle the conflict at the port.
However, during the meeting yesterday afternoon of the Peace Advocates Council, Provincial Police Director Melvin Ramon Buenafe was surprised after Fiscal Arnel Zerna of the City Prosecutor’s Office stood out saying that the public should not let ALU-TUCP and PCBSI deceive them that they have already withdrawn the cases that they have filed.
Col Buenafe made a report to the Peace Advocates Council that the conflict at the port has already been resolved after the signing of the MOA. According to Buenafe in his report, the legal charges were already withdrawn but he was right away corrected by Fiscal Zerna saying that the 12 cases that he is handling is still alive. Zerna said that in fact, some of these cases are already scheduled for the conduct of a preliminary investigation.
Fiscal Zerna further disclosed that two out of the 12 cases were tried to be withdrawn but there were technicalities since the one who attempted to withdraw the case did not pay the necessary fees. Because of this, a total of 12 cases is still pending at the City Prosecutor’s Office.
