Marquez to head Prov’l Police
Negros Oriental will soon have a new Provincial Police Director. The new Police Provincial Director will formally take his position after the turn over of command ceremony this coming June 10 said Governor Emilio Macias II during a press conference yesterday morning.
According to Governor Macias, Sr/Supt Augusto Marquez Jr who is the former Chief of the Regional Intelligence Division of the Police Regional Office 7 and a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1984 will replace Sr/Supt Melvin Ramon Buenafe.
Col Buenafe will be promoted as Chief of the Regional Intelligence Division in Cebu and will also act as Chief of the Visayas Area Police Intelligence Office which is directly under the National PNP office.
Governor Macias disclosed that Col Buenafe himself has asked the governor that he wants to transfer in Cebu. Macias admitted that he is a bit disappointed with his transfer because Col Buenafe showed exemplary performance in maintaining peace and order in the province but because it is for Col Buenafe’s promotion, he decided to agree.
The governor added that if Col Marquez can do even just 50 % of what Col Buenafe has done, he will still be very glad then.
As Col Marquez takes his new position, the governor wants him to give the most importance to the province’ peace and order. He also wants him to do personal assessment to the different police stations here in the province. The governor wants this done so that they will know the major problems of the different police stations of the towns and component cities of the province.
