CHR to sue Kaugmaon leader
The Commission on Human Rights will now carry on the filing of charges coercion with grave threats and extortion against the leader of the militant group Kaugmaon.
This after Lourdes Baloy refused to accept the subpoena issued to her by Commission on Human Rights Special Investigator Jess Canete which was supposedly intended for Baloy to be able to air her side regarding the allegations raised by the residents of Barangay Linantuyan, Guihulngan City against her.
During the Kapihan sa PIA, Canete handed the subpoena to Baloy but the latter refused to accept it. Because of this, Canete disclosed that he will now take a move to formally file the charges against Baloy.
Three complaints of coercion with elements of grave threats and six charges extortion are raised against Baloy due to her alleged order to some 6 residents of Barangay Linantuyan to collect revolutionary taxes from the civilians.
