Red Horse Muziklaban kicks-off rock challenge
Dumaguete City—Red Horse beer's Muziklaban, now on its 10th year, rocked the Negrenres with a kick-off gig at the Quezon Foot Ball Field in Dumaguete City last June 14. All roads led to the weekend concert venue as national rock band icons Slapshock and Greyhoundz slammed the night away with thousands of revelers left awed until the wee hours.
The decade-long and well-followed yearly competition will pit amateur bands across the country with the winning cash prize hitting six-digits.
A screening on the band entries is scheduled in August and the elimination round starts the following month. The final competition is slated on November 29.
"Red Horse Muziklaban is a competition of freedom and emotions. We invite every Filipino rock and non-music lovers alike, to open their souls and appreciate freedom, originality and the finest Filipino artistry through rock and roll", said Ray Encomienda, RH Beer brand manager.
In the later part of the 90's, "Battle of the Bands" was the in thing for rock enthusiasts. It became a nationwide competition in 2001 and two years later, focused on being a "rock challenge".
Last year had the highest recorded number of band contestants with the introduction of the Demo Recording Aid sessions. This innovation was initiated to help budding band artists who could not afford demo recordings.
RH Muziklaban is already 10 years and continues to keep the energy level high and treat rock aficionados with pleasantly chaotic music.
Good to the last drop, Muziklaban vows to keep concert scenes across the country crowded and busy for the next three months.
