Rebel returnees cry of high-cost fertilizers
Former communist rebels who returned to the government’s bosom complained with the high prices of chemical fertilizers. This was the problem brought up in a meeting conducted by the rebel returnees yesterday afternoon in Bais City along with the officials from the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, local officials and military heads.
According to Col. Cesar Yano, Brigade Commander of the 302nd brigade who was interviewed over DYEM Energy FM Dumaguete Tonight said that the assessment of the programs implemented by the government for the rebel returnees is still on the process. For the whole province of Negros Oriental, there are about 200 former communist rebels who are not back to the government’s side. During yesterday’s meeting, 55 rebel returnees have attended.
Col. Yano said that the rebel returnees are trained how to produce organic fertilizers through Governor Dodo Macias’ NegOrganic program.
