Military points HR official for harassment
In a joint press conference by the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police, Col. Cesar Yano, 302nd Brigade Commander scored an official of a human rights group.
Yano said Joseph Lagura has coerced a family in Barangay Dobdob, Valencia town after the said family filed kidnapping and serious illegal detention charges against Vimarie Arcilla.
According to the report, a certain Catalino Ortega, 22 years old went missing since June 29 who was allegedly kidnapped by Arcilla’s group. Col. Yano said Lagura threatened the witnesses of the case against Arcilla. Col. Yano disclosed that Lagura went to Barangay Dobdob last Sunday.
Col. Yano has also challenged Lagura to practice what he has been constantly shouting, to protect human rights. He said that the military is planning to file grave threats complaint against Lagura. He added that the military respects the law so it they will get into a legal fight instead. Col. Yano disclosed that with the police’ assistance, the military will now consecutively conduct their offensive operations.
