NFA wants more Tindahan Natin stalls

The new Provincial Manager of the National food Authority here wants additional number of “Tindahan Natin” establishments which will sell affordable NFA rice. This was disclosed by NFA Provincial Manager Sergio Balofinos Jr.

According to him, the province has 160 “Tindahan Natin” establishments and it is not sufficient for the 1.3 million over-all population of the province. He said in Capiz where he was formerly assigned, there is only bout 713,000 total population but they have 240 “Tindahan Natin” establishments. However, Balofinos did not disclose the number of additional establishments he wants to be attained.

Balofinos said, “Tindahan Natin” establishments will be placed in far flung barangays and those areas known to be poor.

On the other hand, Balofinos said the province has enough supply of rice. In fact, they have just finished unloading the NFA supply at the port. He also added that the price of commercial rice has slowly lowered since the month of August is the season of harvest especially in Mindanao. Most of the rice supply in the province is coming from Mindanao. He is expecting that prices will go down since the supply will go up.
