Seized firearms from NORECO 2’s GM, owned by Security Agency

A Security Agency based in Cebu admittedly owned the five high powered firearms which were seized from the General Manager of NORECO 2 last Saturday morning in Barangay Maningcao, Sibulan town.

Past 7 o’clock last Saturday, August 23, Engr. Ephraim Taclob was arrested by the Bravo Company of the 79th Infantry Battalion for charges of illegal possession of firearms. Five high powered firearms were seized from him including 3 Armscor shotgun 12 gauge, 1 shooter’s shotgun 12 gauge and 1 kg 9 pistol machinegun with 2 magazines containing 41 ammunitions and another 34 ammunitions for the 12 gauge shotgun.

However, Engr. Taclob was able to show a license and permit to carry outside residence for two glock caliber 40 pistol with 2 magazines containing 14 bullets and for a baby armalite or M16 with 9 long magazines and 260 live bullets. Some accessories were also seized including a black bag, a black rifle case and a white sack.

According to 2Lt. Lusaylo Lunas, Officer-in-Charge of the Bravo Company of the 79th Infantry Battalion based in Barangay Janay-Janay, San Jose, they have long received reports regarding some armed men in Naiba, San Jose town. At about 5 in the morning last Saturday, they have once again received reports from the civilians disclosing some armed men in Barangay Naiba. 2Lt. Lunas said they were suspecting that the sightings were members of the New People’s Army that’s why a platoon of soldiers in their full battle gear was tasked to check the area. They conducted a checkpoint and scrutinized every vehicle that passes until the Inter-Dynamic Toyota HiLux with plate number GLV 458 owned by Engr. Taclob passed where they saw the high powered firearms.

After Engr. Taclob failed to show the documents of the five high powered firearms, the Bravo Company turned them over to the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office for appropriate actions and appropriate legal charges.
