Injured soldier receives medal
The injured military during an encounter with the New People’s Army in Sitio Maitom, Milagrosa, Sta. Catalina town last August 23 afternoon was given a Wounded Personnel Medal.
Major General Nestor Ochoa, Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army visited Private First Class Ronie Makilan last night at the Silliman University Medical Center to personally hang the medal to Makilan.
The giving of the medal was witnessed by Col. Cesar Yano-302nd Brigade Commander and Lt. Col. Erwin Bernard Neri-Commander of the 79th Infantry Masaligan Battalion where Makilan belongs.
General Ochoa said PFC. Makilan will be brought to Manila where he would gain full recovery. Makilan was injured in his foot as he was one of the 7 soldiers who fought against some 40 suspected armed rebels in Sta. Catalina.
