GMA to open the International Conference
on Local Government Financing
After attending the inauguration of the Provincial Convention Center last February, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will be visiting the Provincial Convention Center this October 29 for the 1st International Conference on Local Government Financing that will be piloted in Negros Oriental.
Despite the Barangay and SK Elections on that same day, PGMA is willing to open the conference which will also be attended by officials from Germany, including the German Ambassador to the Philippines, the donor aid agencies including the World Bank, USAID, AUSAID, the International Monetary Fund and the governors and other officials nationwide.
PGMA will give the opening keynote of the conference which focuses on the local government financing that will introduce the new Integrated Taxation System or I-TAX.
Because the event is in time for the elections, Senior Supt. Melvin Buenafe assures that the police, military and all law enforcement agencies are working hand in hand to avoid unwanted incidents and that they will be manning all the polling precincts in the 557 barangays in the province aside from other police identities who will perform their regular duties.
Upon the president’s security, troops from the Presidential Security group will be sent ahead in the province before the arrival of the President.
Aside from this, the Phillipine National Police of Region 7 has promised ton deploy additional troops to the province for poll duty.
