| Malapascua Cebu unexploited There is a growing destination for domestic and foreign tourists in north of Cebu. There is an island called Malapascua in the northern tip of Cebu. We came to visit this tiny island for the first time and we were surprised at the volume of tourists who visit the place.
Malapascua, according to the locals was named by Spanish conquestadores. It is believed that the sea voyagers arrived in the place one Christmas time, and the weather was so bad, the seas so rough, the winds so violent that it almost cost the lives of the crew. That is why they named the island mala-pascua (bad christmas). It is largely unexploited, the pace in the island is so slow that foreigners love it. It is indeed a place to remove oneself from the pressures of city life. There are already numerous cottages, resorts in the island that a visitor can choose an array of rooms whether cheap or the costly. The cheapest can come at P500.
Unknown to many, Malapascua is a place so easy to reach. If you want to visit the place, you just take the aircon Ceres bus that leaves at 5 a.m. The bus arrives at 9 a.m. in the town of Daanbantayan, barrio Maya. Upon arrival, tourists take a 40-minute pumpboat ride to the island. Very convenient in going there from Cebu City.
In coming back, take the pumpboat ride to Daanbantayan at 9 a.m. Upon arrival at Cebu island, the aircon Ceres bus is just waiting to take you to Cebu City, arriving at around 2 p.m. Aside from the pristine white beach, which abounds in the Visayas area, a visitor can go scuba or deep sea diving, or can take a boat ride around the island.
There is a world war II vessel that has been lying nearby, and visitors can just enjoy the sea. | |
