DAR launches 34th agrarian
reform community in Amlan

The provincial office of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) had recently launched its 34th Agrarian Reform Community in the province at the Central Development Center (CDC) situated in Brgy. Silab in Amlan town.
CDC-Silab has a total land area of 4,988 hectares with an agricultural land area of 3,433 and a topography of 9% flat.
The created agricultural community in the area has a total population of 8,684 of which 6.20% are agrarian reform beneficiaries.
DAR information officer Aileen Alaban bared that there are three existing people’s organizations in the area namely: Bio-os, Janitanon and Silab Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-purpose Cooperative.
Among those who attended the formal launching includes Amlan Mayor Bentham P. de la Cruz, 2nd District Congressman George P. Arnaiz, Amlan Vice Mayor Carmen G. Tan, Dr. Antonio del Socorro CARPO-SSD of DAR Region-7, Assistant Regional Director Nevino Cardente representing DAR 7 Regional Director Rodolfo T. Inson, and officer in charge Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer I Pacifico Quindo, Jr. representing PARO II Grace B. Fua, among others
Mayor de la Cruz explained in a talk with the farmers that he is happy that the tillers gain access to DAR’s support services program.
Cong. Arnaiz, who expressed his support to CARP, reminded farmer beneficiaries during the launching of their obligation to pay their taxes.
On the other hand, DAR its first roving Public Assistance and Complaints Coordinating Unit (PACCU) to the Barrio.
A crowd of agrarian reform beneficiaries, potential beneficiaries and other farmers turned out for the PACCU to raise issues mostly on legal matters involving farmers’ pending cases and petitions before DAR’s central office in Manila.
The roving complaints center was then held at the PHCCI grounds in Dumaguete City simultaneously with DAR’s Rural Women’s Forum.
The said activity, initiated by DAR in Manila , aimed to bring the agrarian office closer to the people by providing free legal assistance, advice and information on the legal rights and obligations of CARP beneficiaries.
Officials from DAR in Manila particularly from Special Concerns and the Bureau of Agrarian Legal Assistance were on hand to deal with the complaints raised by DAR’s clients, including also officials from the Office of the President-Presidential Action Center (PACE).
