Karapatan charged with Kidnapping
A charge of kidnapping was filed by a mother against the Human rights group Karapatan at the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office last Monday.
This was learned by DYEM Energy FM Dumaguete Tonight from Senior Inspector Angelito Ramad,Valencia Chief of Police. According to Senior Inspector Ramada, charged with kidnapping is the group Karapatan headed by a certain Vimarie Arcilla. He said that a certain Anita Ortega asked for help from the Valencia Police and Valencia Mayor Odol Gonzales to look for his missing son Catalino Ortega, 22 years old.
Catalino, according to his mother, was last seen on June 29 at Barangay Dobdob, Valencia along with five alleged members of Karapatan. After this incident, he was never seen again.
It can be recalled that Karapatan Secretary General for Negros Island strongly denied such allegation. In a text message, he said that these are only black propagandas used against them.
