NPA organizer nabbed
Pedro Lumanatas’ live-in partner Lita Mahilum, aka Joy and Belen, 41 years old from Katipunan, Labangon, Cebu City who was also arrested along with Lumantas also admitted her involvement to the New People’s Army.
According to her, she often accompanies Lumantas during his delivery of mails and logistics to the communist rebels. She said she became a member of the reds in 1998 but lay-lowed for a short while and came back in 2006 in Bohol.
Mahilum related at DYEM Energy FM Dumaguete Tonight that she worked in Bohol as an organizer and one of her functions is to recruit new members through teach-ins in the hinterlands. She said most convinced to join their group are farmers.
However, Mahilum and Lumantas admitted that their entry to the communist rebel’s group did not alleviate their living. According to them, this is because they have not united their purposes.
