City Mayor Pushes for Poverty Alleviation

Dumaguete City Mayor Agustin Perdices addressed the newly sworn barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan official to adopt a common vision to reduce incidence of poverty in Dumaguete city last November 29 at the Dumaguete City High School during the Oath-Taking Ceremony of the newly elected barangay officials.

Mayor Perdices revealed that the city is expecting to receive an additional Php 5 million in internal revenue allotment shares that the barangays can benefit in implementing livelihood projects rather than the usual infrastructure projects.

This is after he stressed that his administration is focusing on poverty alleviation in the city.

Second District Representative George Arnaiz also graced the occasion saying that the barangay officials in the city can implement projects better through cost-sharing and set aside political motives.

The solon also advised the newly sworn officials to produce projects which have strong impacts on the lives of their constituets.

Vice Mayor Woodrow Maquiling addressed the new officials to serve the public with humility and respect, as models of putting Christ in the center of all their undertakings.
