PPA gets Long-wanted ECC
There will be no more barricades for great projects that will be undertaken by the Philippine Ports Authority here in Dumaguete City after it was able to secure an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) from the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) of Region 7, revealed Dumaguete PPA Manager Noemi Calderon.
The ECC was issued by EMB-7 Regional Director Alan Aranguez last November 29.
Calderon said that now that they already have the long-sought ECC, it will already be easy and fast to realize the great projects planned by the PPA.
The proposed projects include the Passenger Terminal, the reclamation project that will serve as the berthing area and another 1.5 hectare reclamation area.
It can be remembered earlier that the proposed projects of the PPA were controversial due to its failure to secure for an ECC. In fact, the city government took back its endorsement to the PPA’s projects but promised to do the endorsement again once an ECC is accomplished.
