Candau-ay, Batinguel dubbed as Marijuana Capital
A young suspect for possession and peddling the illegal drugs was nabbed by Task Force 24.
The suspect is identified as one Eugene Ramirez who was arrested in Purok Saging, Barangay Candau-ay. Ramirez is 21 years old and a second year Bachelor of Science in Electronics student of Negros Oriental State University.
Ramirez tried to escape from the authorities which caused him several bruises and wounds in his body.
SPO1 Allen Germudo of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, a police asset, purchased two matchboxes of marijuana from the suspect and another two matchboxes filled with dried marijuana leaves were found in the suspect. Ramirez admitted that he gets his supply of marijuana from Cebu but refused to give the names of his supplier.
Officer Nick Tagle of the National Bureau of Investigation revealed that Barangay Candau-ay and Katrina Subdivision of Barangay Batinguel are now considered as the marijuana capital of the city and is now under close monitoring of Task Force 24. Ramirez will be charged for violating sections 11 and 5, article 2 of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 with no bail recommended.
