City to buy cellphones for councilors; public demands to publicize nos.
The public demands the City Officials to publicize their cellphone numbers the time comes when the city can already acquire the N82 cellphones which will be purchased for them. Included for the acquisition of the cellular phones are the city mayor and the city vice-mayor along with the councilors.
This was after a resolution pushed by Councilor Chiquitting Sagabarria that the city would purchase cellular phones for the councilors in order for them to be more effective in their duty to formulate ordinances was approved.
Only Councilor Alan Cordova did not approve of the proposal. He said that it is not right to use the taxes given by the people to purchase cellular phones for them. He believes that the councilors are still affective in giving their services even if they use their personal cellphones.
During the program Dumaguete Tonight over DYEM Energy FM, many listeners expressed dismay and disapproval of the notion since according to them each unit of the N82 would cost up to more than P20, 000. The listeners added that if the real purpose of the acquisition of these cellular phones then the councilors must publicize their numbers so that their constituents can easily contact them.
