CBA finally signed

After 30 to 45 days of critical negotiation for the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between Prudential Customs Brokerage and Services Incorporated and the Associated Labor Union-Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (ALU-TUCP), a CBA was finally agreed and signed yesterday morning between the management and the union members.

The CBA signing was attended by Prudential’s General Manager Rommel Ibuna, ALU-TUCP National President, ALU-TUCP Area Vice President for the Visayas Michael Mendoza, ALU-TUCP District Officer Felizardo Calimpong, Counsel of Prudential Atty Joel Obar and Leo Tobianosa of Prudential.

Those who witnessed the signing include Dumaguete City Mayor Agustin Perdices, Labor Department Head Atty. Jose Ogang, Edward Du from the Business sector, Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office Director Sr/Supt Augusto Marquez and others.

In his speech intended to the concerned signatories of the CBA, ALU-TUCP District Officer Felizardo Calimpong asked Prudential to be sincere with the agreed CBA which will take effect in five years.

For the management’s side, Rommel Ibuna, General Manager, in his speech assured thar Prudential will act according to the signed agreement. He said that the union can be assured of Prudential’s sincerity, integrity and truthfulness to implement the CBA.

On the other hand, Dumaguete City Mayor Agustin Perdices has advised both parties not to forget the bad things that happened during the strike at the pier after the signing o the CBA. It can be recalled that last March 29, a bloody dispersal occurred at the port. The mayor added that if peace is desired by both parties, they should not forget the terrible happenings at the port. The mayor has also praised the management and the labor union for the fruitful outcome of the CBA negotiation.

Meanwhile, ALU-TUCP Area Vice President for the Visayas Michael Mendoza in his speech disclosed that after the signing of the CBA we could expect industrial peace at the port.
