Bais’ Gigantic Christmas Decors Finally Lighted
After a day’s delay, Bais City’s famous Giant Christmas Tree was formally lighted last Saturday day night, disclosed Bais City Mayor Tata Villanueva who personally initiated the lighting ceremony.
According to Mayor Villanueva, the ceremony was just simple and plain yet there were still several spectators coming from the different towns in the province and even from the neighbor province Negros Occidental who witnessed the event.
The lighting ceremony was supposed to be done last Friday but due to bad weather conditions, it was moved to Saturday.
Mayor Villanueva said that their Christmas celebration will run through the 6th of January, 2008.
Aside from the gigantic Christmas decorations in the city plaza, there is also a carnival and free ice cream serving for the children who will visit the area.
Because of this, lots of families purposely go to Bais City to gaze at the decorations.
With this city activity, Bais was not able to build its booth at the Sidlakang Negros Village in Dumaguete City.
Mayor Villanueva reiterated that after the Christmas Season they will already start constructing their booth.
