Squatters at Looc soon cleared
Two hundred to three hundred squatter residents at Zones 2 and 4 of Barangay Looc will now be relocated. This was revealed by Dumaguete City Mayor Agustin Perdices.
According to Mayor Perdices, this is in order to push through the much delayed 1.5-hectare reclamation project at the port.
The reclamation project has long been delayed because of the failure to get an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) for the project. Since the squatters at Zones 2 and 4 will be affected with this project, the Philippine Ports Authority who will implement the project will also relocate them. The widening of the port is aimed to have a berthing space for the passengers.
