Bloods and Crips strike again
The city’s problem with the two rival fraternities Bloods and Crips has one again resurfaced. This after some famous politicians and businessmen here backed their rivalry.
This was disclosed by Sibulan Chief of Police and former Intelligence Officer here in Dumaguete City. Garchitorena was formerly assigned by then Dumaguete City Chief of Police Supt. Dionardo Carlos to mend and settle the problem between the two gangs.
In fact, in a peace covenant signed before by the two groups at the city session hall, local officials and police officers were there to witness the ceremony. However, the setback has now returned.
During the meeting of the Peace Advocates yesterday afternoon, Senior Inspector Garchitorena admitted that it is indeed very hard to eliminate Bloods and Crips since some of their members are sons and daughters of big fishes. Garchitorena added that the financiers of both groups are even politicians and businessmen.
On the other hand, Board Member Mariant Escano Villegas expressed her dismay on the resurfacing of the Bloods and Crips problem of the city. She said there should now be a solution on how to stop both groups’ rivalry especially that Buglasan Festival is fast approaching.
She is worried that squabbles may arise during the Buglasan festivities. The board member said many are then expected to grace the celebration.
