Illegal Drug Trade in 2 of Dgte’s Villages Continue
As the Negros Oriental provincial police authorities identify villages in the city which are facing serious drug problems, provincial police Director Ramon Melvin Buenafe hopes that the newly elected barangay and SK officials would help monitor offenders by coordinating with the authorities and reporting such to the police stations in their areas.
The provincial police identified barangay Looc and barangay Calindagan of Dumaguete City as critically affected by illegal drug problems.
During a forum on illegal drugs last Wednesday, Buenafe also revealed other villages in the province which are facing the same drug problem like the poblacion areas of Sta. Catalina, Bacong, Mabinay, Sibulan and Guiuhulngan along with barangay Awa-an in Ayungon, Tandayag in Amlan and barangay Cadawinonan of Dumaguete City.
Buenafe added that his men are working together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Task Force 24 operatives as they are closely monitoring barangay Looc and Sitio Canday-ong of barangay Calindagan to eliminate rampant drug trade in the said areas.
