Manluminsag ambush case
hearing starts today
“The wheel of justice is slowly going round,” said First District Congresswoman Josy Limkaichong regarding the transfer of the preliminary investigation of the ambush case that happened at Barangay Manluminsag during last year’s election campaign period.
The preliminary hearing of the case multiple murder and multiple frustrated murder will be conducted today against former 1st district representative Jing Paras at the Provinvial Prosecutor’s Office.
Earlier, the Department of Justice changed its former decision to conduct the preliminary investigation of the case in Manila. Instead, the DOJ decided to send a state prosecutor here who will preside with the preliminary investigation.
This morning, suspect William Paunillian who pointed the former solon Jing Paras as the mastermind of the crime is expected to face the court. Paras strongly denies the allegations of Paunillian.
According to Congressman Limkaichong, she is pleased that the case will now progress here since the complainant is poor and it is too much hassle for them to travel to Manila for the hearing of the case. She also added that it could also endanger the lives of the witnesses. Some o the witnesses were survivors of the ambush. One killed during the ambush is an avid supporter of Congressman Limkaichong who is former Aya BArangay Captain Lydio Baylon.
