Monitor Food Production Closely says businessmen
Stiff monitoring of the food production is what the country needs in order to address the growing food crisis in the country says the President of the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry and city Councilor Chiquitting Sagarbarria.
Sagarbarria pointed out that there in no really food and rice shortage here but there is indeed shortage in low-costing rice since those who used to buy commercial rice now buys the NFA rice as well due to its low price compared to the sky-high prices of commercial rice.
He disclosed that the National food Authority’s only role was only to fill-in the lacking supplies. However, what happened is that the NFA is now the only one depended upon by consumers.
Some members of the Negros Oriental chamber of Commerce and Industry and rice and corn suppliers here in the province expressed the burden that they are experiencing as of the moment.
