Nabbed NPA member points companion
Another suspected member of the New People’s Army was nabbed by the 302nd Brigade the other night in San Jose town. This was revealed by Col. Cesar Yano, 302nd Brigade Commander.
Col. Yano identified the suspect as Reggie Martinez. However, Martinez was released right away since no firearms were recovered from him. According to Col. Yano, Martinez was nabbed after Pedro Lumantas, earlier seized by the military, pointed Martinez as member of the NPA.
Lumantas was captured last Saturday in Sibulan by virtue of a warrant of arrest for charges of murder. Lumantas, in an interview over DYEM Energy FM Dumaguete Tonight, openly admitted his being a courier of the NPA. He also disclosed that he was a former squad leader of Fronts 1 and 2 in Sevilla, Bohol under Dominggo Ompos aka Commander Cobra.
Col. Yano disclosed that most probably, more members of the NPA will be captured. He added that even the civilians are already reporting the presence of the leftists. Col. Yano has also encouraged the members of the NPA to return to the bosom of the government since the military has already come closer to the rebels.
