Mayor optimistic for Auxiliary police
Dumaguete City Mayor Agustin Perdices is optimistic that the city council will finally pass a resolution to create an auxiliary police in the city.
According to the mayor, the creation of a police auxiliary will greatly help in augmenting police personnel shortage. However, the mayor disclosed that unlike what is done in Bayawan City, Dumaguete will not issue high caliber firearms to police auxiliary since they will only give assistance to police personnel. The police will still do the operations and these auxiliary police will not be used to fight against insurgency problems.
Members of the city council will still go to Bayawan city to conduct a ‘lakbay aral’ so that they may personally assess and witness the newly created police auxiliary.
On the other hand, the city mayor assured the police officials in the city under Supt Dionardo Carlos that the city government will give an additional support for the mobility and communication of the police during their operations. Evidently, the city government has just turned over handheld radios to the city police.
Meanwhile, the city government is ready to give a repeater to the city police if they ask for it.
