‘Karapatan, NPA’s legal front- Neri
The Commanding Officer of the 79th Infantry Battalion Lt Col. Erwin Neri alleged that the militant group “Karapatan” is only a “Legal Front” of the New People’s Army.
According to Col Neri this is the reason why “Karapatan” is very opposed to the arrival of the 79th Infantry Battalion. He added that “Karapatan” is a mass base of the NPA.
Earlier, Karapatan has pointed the 79th IB for military abuses in Sta Catalina and Siaton towns which is strongly denied by Col Neri.
Col Neri disclosed during the assembly last Sunday in Mantikil, Siaton that no resident in the said areas has stood up to prove that there are such abuses to the civilians. He said that the “Karapatan” members did not even make a sound during the said assembly.
Neri said that the allegations were only intended to outrage the people and have the military leave their posts in the area.
