2 soldiers wounded in encounter
Two soldiers were slightly wounded after a three-minute shoot-out yesterday early morning at Barangay Bagtic, Mabinay between the government force and the communist rebels.
The soldiers who were not brought to the hospital were Patrolman First Class Rex Flores and Patrolman First Class Romeo Santos who both belong to the 302nd Brigade posted at Camp Leon Kilat, Palanas, Tanjay City.
According to 302nd Brigade Commander Col. Cesar Yano who was interviewed over DYEM Energy FM Dumaguete Tonight, they received reports of sightings of armed men at Barangay Bagtic, Mabinay. They immediately sent some of their soldiers at the area where the soldiers encountered with 17 armed men. After the three-minute shoot-out, the rebels immediately fled away from the area.
Col. Yano added that they will never cease on going after the communist rebels.
