SU Calls for resignation
of corrupt officials
The Silliman University Community calls for the government officials who are involved with the anomalous ZTE – NBN deal to resign for good.
In a statement of concern, Silliman University expressed its grief with the destruction of the government through corruption which was unveiled by star witness Rodolfo Jun Lozada who was the former President of the Philippine Forest Corporation.
The statement of concern is signed by SU President Dr Ben S. Malayang III, Vice-President for Academic Affairs Dr Betsy Joy Tan, Dean of the Divinity School Dr Muriel Montenegro, Director for Research Dr Enrique Oracion, Multi-media Director Dr Cecilia Genove and SU Student Government President Lycar Flores.
However, in the statement of concern, SU did not mention the personalities that they wish to resign after being involved with the anomaly.
According to the statement, Silliman University, as a Christian Institution for Higher Learning, is constantly mindful and conscious of its responsibility to promote what is morally right and just.
The statement added that SU as an institution that has an obligation to the society cannot afford to stay quiet on the issues, especially that it already concerns the morality of the national governance. The people has to move according to the voice of their conscience and to demand for accountability from the government officials.
