Secretary Teves ready to leave his post
Finance Secretary Gary Teves is ready to leave his post if he will be removed by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. This was after he was bypassed again by the Commission on Appointments which is headed by Senator Juan Ponce Enrile.
Because of this, former congressman Herminio Teves, Gary’s father, was forced to comment that it would be better for his son to resign. However, the next day, Meniong Teves denounced his comment on the issue.
According to the elder Teves that others might connect Secretary Teves’ resignation with the issues of corruption in the government. However, Secretary Teves is still focused on his work especially in balancing the financial scale of the country.
Some analysts disclosed that Secretary Teves is the hindrance for some of the administration’s critics since the financial flow of the country is in good state especially that the peso is getting stronger against the dollar.
If Secretary Teves be removed from the cabinet, the Makati Finacial Analysts disclosed that the country’s economy would be highly affected. If this happens, this could mean for the President’s downfall, the analysts added.
