Port Strike Withdrawn
Strikers at the Dumaguete City Port have already withdrawn their picket past 1 o ‘clock in the afternoon yesterday after a Memorandum of Agreement was signed between the Prudential Customs Brokerage and Services Incorporated, ALU-TUCP and the Philippine Ports Authority.
The MOA was signed yesterday midnight in Manila. Five issued were discussed from each side. These include the following: PCBSI will absorb the 188 picketers/members of the union without condition like nothing has happened; PCBSI should recognize the Collective Bargaining Agreement or CBA and 30 days after the signing of the MOA, a new arrangement regarding the new CBA should take place. Third, the Philippine Ports Authority should review the contract of the cargo handling services at the port. Fourth, members of the union should immediately report to PCBSI and withdraw their strike before April 24 and the last, all charges filed in court by both parties should be withdrawn and there should be no Retaliatory Reaction.
The Memorandum of Agreement was signed by Rommel Ibuna of PCBSI, Atty Democrito Mendoza (ALU-TUCP President) and PPA General Manager Atty Oscar Sevilla.
