Village Councilman Shot Dead
Nelson Merced, a recently elected kagawad of Barangay Looc, passed away after he sustained several gun shots from different parts of his body by unknown suspects.
Based on investigation, Merced was traveling on his way to Barangay Batinguel on his motorcycle at ten in the evening when two armed men on board a motorcycle overtook him and fired a lot of gunshots towards him.
Law enforcer of the Dumaguete PNP command PO2 Roger Salve, passed by the victim’s location and upon seeing his dying condition, seeked for help from the bystanders.
They brought the victim to the Holy Child Hospital but then he died a few minutes after.
Recovered in the crime scene are three empty shells of .45 caliber pistol along with 2 slugs of the same arm.
The motive behind the killing is yet to be identified by the authorities.
